Registration, borrowing and use of resources

To be able to benefit from the services and the resources of the Library, you need to be registered. Each registered student is given an ID number and the registration is free. The staff of the University are registered upon signing their employment contract with the University.

The users are obligated to show their personal ID before using the Library’s services. It is not possible to use the following resources outside the premises of the Library:

  • reference/additional materials (dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopaedias, reference books, etc.)
  • final papers
  • magazines
  • rare books and special collections.

However, all of these resources can be used in the Reading Room. The type of the user defines the maximum borrowing privileges:

  • students – 4 books max.
  • teaching staff – 50 books max.
  • non-teaching staff – 10 books max.

 

Reading Room

The Reading Room is open Monday to Friday from 7.30. to 20.00.
Rules and Guidelines:

  1. Every University member is welcome to use the Reading Room.
  2. The magazines of the Library can be used only in the Reading Room and they are not permitted to be taken out of the Library.
  3. The borrowed materials or papers shall not be left on the desks unsupervised. Checked items must be stored away when leaving the Reading Room for a longer period of time.
  4. The sound of the mobile phones must be turned off.
  5. We are not responsible for any misplaced, lost or stolen items.
  6. Food is not allowed, but you may bring beverages i.e. water, coffee or juice.
  7. It is not permitted to talk loudly, make noise or disturb other users.
  8. Any item of the Library’s holdings must be checked out by the librarian before using it in the Reading Room.
  9. It is allowed to use your laptop on the premises.
  10. In case of breaching the listed rules of conduct, the person will be removed from the Reading Room and his/her rights to use the Library’s services may be withheld temporarily or permanently.

 

Book reservations

The users can reserve books in person, by phone or e-mail.

The deadline for checking out a reserved copy is two days.

 

Information services

The Library also offers its users to search for a smaller number of information resources (bibliography, catalogues) available in the Library (in person or by e-mail) or to search by theme for available information sources (catalogues, databases and other).
